My opinion is that Mental Health associations should not take a pro or con position on this issue! I believe that our position should be to support the voters decision and provide our support and understanding as mental health professionals, to the general population. Because of the diversity or our professional memberships, we will be able to be supportive and affective with all individuals on either side!!!!!
I agree with the State CAMFT that we should not get "tangled" in political issues. My personal opinion to Proposition 8 is that it keeps church and state separate. This is a Christian Country and Marriage in the Church is a covenant between a man and a woman that is honored by GOD. If homosexuals want to be Married in the church this is an affirmation that they believe in GOD. GOD has clearly indicated in the scriptures that marriage of two same sex individuals is an abomination to him and his judgment will come down on all of us!
